Meditation in Movement: Advanced Concepts & Techniques in Thai Massage
3 days, 20 hours, Zagreb, Croatia €350
When you work in massage and bodywork, how do you adjust your techniques and sequences according to the needs of each person? Do you usually do the same thing on both sides of the body, or do you change your techniques according to what you are sensing? When do you use your intuition to guide you? Do you often close your eyes as you work to feel a person’s blockages and energy? This workshop introduces new techniques to your repertoire; reviews important things that you may already know; and provides a fresh perspective on your work in traditional Thai massage.
If you already practice Thai massage therapy, we will review techniques that we sometimes do not use, and we will focus on how to work with people in different situations. Each person assesses and evaluates their partners, and then uses only techniques and sequences that they feel will be best for that person. There is discussion and synthesis after each practice period, based on the experiences of the giver and the receiver. If you are new to Thai massage, you will learn and practice important Thai techniques and concepts for healing. Many of the techniques may be integrated into shiatsu, table massage, partner yoga, physical therapy, and other forms of healing.
We will work mostly in supine and side positions, but we will also practice techniques in prone position. Supine is how we generally begin and end a Thai massage treatment. Side position is a comfortable way to work with large or inflexible people, people with back and hip problems, and pregnant women. Prone position allows the therapist to treat certain conditions on the posterior aspect of the body. Each person practices traditional Thai techniques, assisted yoga postures and acupressure therapies, and a period of silent, focused practice takes place each day.
Please join us for this interesting and challenging 3-day workshop. Let’s learn from each other as we go deeper in our healing work with our friends and clients. --- 9 am to 4:30 pm each day - certificates awarded upon completion. --- The course is acknowledged by major massage and bodywork organizations.
